How did we get to become CHEROKEE FLATS
Cherokee Flats was originally Cody's Rabbit Cave and was started by Cody in 2004 as a 4 H project for McLean County, IL. Since then, we've moved from Bloomington, IL to Rural Farmer City, IL and have added many breeds of rabbits and added poultry. Since Austin was now old enough to show in 4H and Brian and I were wanting to show in ARBA shows, we decided to change the name to Cherokee Flats in 2007. After years of trying to find the breeds we wanted the most, we finally have it down to American Fuzzy Lop, Jersey Wooly, Satin, and Mini Lop.

Austin is 22 yrs old and is a true farm boy thru and thru. He loves being outside with the animals and introducing people to them.
He loves to educate people on proper care, housing and just random need to know stuff.
Austin recently got a new pet, a ball python named "Greenbean" He is currently about 6 weeks old and less than 12" long. Within the next 3 years, Greenbean will grow to between 4-6 feet long. To help make sure his beautiful snake continues to grow and thrive, Austin has also begun raising African Soft-Furred Rats/Mice (ASF). While they are there to make food for his snake, Austin has given them names. Male: Tatersalad, Females: Fried Tater, Sweet Tater and he told me the babies will be known as TATER TOTS (this kid...)
Austin moved into his own apartment in September 2020 and has enjoyed having his own space. While he still visits for mom's food, Austin has enjoyed being able to have a place to call his own.
Austin is an amazing kid and loves helping us around the farm when he's visiting.
He enjoys gaming on the PS4 and hanging out with friends.
