Welcome to Cherokee Flats!

Small Animals • Responsible Breeding • Sustainable Practices

Located in rural Farmer City, Illinois, Cherokee Flats is a small, family-operated farm dedicated to raising quality rabbits, cavies (guinea pigs), and fancy rats. Our focus is on responsible breeding, animal welfare, education, and sustainable farming practices.

We believe every animal deserves proper care, appropriate housing, quality nutrition, and a home that understands its unique needs. Whether an animal is raised for exhibition, responsible meat production, or companionship, its health and well-being remain our priority.

🐇 Meat & Show Rabbits

Argente Brun • Crème d’Argent • Champagne d’Argent

Our heritage rabbit breeds are raised with a dual purpose: responsible meat production and competitive exhibition.

We work toward maintaining breed characteristics, improving quality, and supporting the preservation of these beautiful, historically significant breeds.

🐰 Show & Pet Rabbits

English Lop • Mini Lop • Polish

Our show and pet rabbits are raised with an emphasis on breed standards, health, temperament, and responsible placement.

Whether you're an experienced exhibitor, an aspiring 4-H participant, or someone seeking a companion rabbit, we strive to help prospective buyers understand the responsibilities involved in rabbit ownership.

🐹 Show & Pet Cavies (Guinea Pigs)

American • Teddy • Peruvian • Silkie • Skinny

Our cavy program focuses on raising healthy animals while promoting proper husbandry, breed education, and exhibition.

From the smooth-coated American to the long-haired Peruvian and Silkie, each breed has its own characteristics and grooming requirements.

Please note: Skinny cavies are raised in limited numbers and may not always be available.

🐀 Pet Fancy Rats

Standard Ear • Dumbo Ear

Our fancy rats are raised primarily as companion animals. These intelligent, curious, and highly social animals can make wonderful pets for individuals and families who understand their needs.

We emphasize proper housing, social interaction, enrichment, nutrition, and responsible ownership.

Responsible Breeding: Making thoughtful breeding decisions with consideration for animal health, quality, and long-term welfare.
Education: Helping prospective owners understand the commitment involved before purchasing an animal.
Sustainability: Incorporating practical, environmentally conscious farming methods whenever possible.
