Flemish Giant Information

Learn more about the fascinating Flemish Giant rabbit breed and what makes them such unique companions.

Why Flemish Giants are Special

Flemish Giants are large, docile, and friendly rabbits that love to cuddle, sleep on your lap, and act like a cat or small dog. They enjoy out of cage time and love sleeping on bare floors in hot weather. Our Flemish Giants love our hardwood floors to stretch out on and cool off.

Common Health Issues and Prevention

Flemish (and other large breeds) tend to have issues with sore hocks. This is when pressure sores show up on their feet. Finding good stock that do not have this issue is key when looking to get Flemish. Sore Hocks are genetic and with proper selective breeding, this can be prevented.

Ideal Environment for Flemish Giants

We recommend 36" x 24" x 16" wire bottom cages with slate tile added to allow them space to get off the wire. Allowing supervised grass time (providing chemicals are not used on your lawn) can also help lessen the risk of foot issues later on.

Temperament and Socialization Needs

Flemish are docile lovers. They are sweet, cuddly and enjoy their time with their humans. At no time do we recommend having more than one as a pet or allow them to socialize with other rabbits as it can proved deadly.
